Man arrested after deadly crash near Cardinal Stadium
A man has been arrested and charged for his involvement in a deadly crash that took place close to Papa John’s Cardinal Stadium in Louisville, Kentucky. The wreck happened right around 2:30 in the morning, at the intersection of South Floyd Street and Central Avenue.
According to those who witnessed the crash, the 45-year-old man was driving on Floyd Street, going south. He blew through the traffic light even though the cars on the other street had the right of way. His vehicle slammed into the passenger side of a car going down Central.
The impact was hard enough that the car he hit spun in a circle in the street, then stopped. Emergency crews responded and took the driver, who had serious injuries, to University Hospital. They attended to the passenger and then announced that she had been killed at the crash site.
The 45-year-old man tried to get out of his car and run, but the police were able to track him down and catch him. They are now charging him with a variety of offenses, including leaving the crash scene, wanton endangerment and assault, and manslaughter.
Reports out of Louisville did not comment on whether or not drugs or alcohol were believed to be a factor.
An accident like this can leave two families reeling. One has lost a loved one in a preventable crash, while the other has a family member in the hospital with serious injuries and mounting medical bills. It is important for both families to know what potential rights they may have to financial compensation during such a hard time.
