Strategies to help keep pools secure at all times

Kentucky residents and others who own swimming pools may have something that makes their homes more valuable and summer months easier to enjoy. However, swimming pools can also be dangerous if not properly secured and cared for. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), 3,536 Americans are killed in accidental drownings not related to boating accidents. In addition to drowning, a person could experience a physical injury or get sick in or around a pool.

Businesses responsible for keeping property safe for customers

If a customer slips or falls while on a small Kentucky business' property, that person may be entitled to seek compensation by filing a premises liability claim against that business. This is because small business owners are responsible for ensuring that the property is free from hazards for customers.

Many Kentuckians will spend at least one day this summer (and possibly many) at a theme park, fair, carnival, water park or other outdoor location where rides and other activities abound. We count on these rides and activities to be as safe as possible.

Elderly people can be seriously harmed by unsafe conditions

As we get older, it's not uncommon to develop balance problems and limitations to our mobility. We also generally experience some vision and cognitive decline. For all of these reasons, elderly people may be more likely to fall than younger people.

Can I sue for injuries I suffer at a horse riding facility?

When an individual finds out than someone else keeps horses, they're bound to ask if they can take a ride on one at some point in time. While such a request may seem innocent enough, there are so many things that can go wrong. A prudent horse owner may deny your request as it exposes him or her to being sued.

What color should warning signs be?

When there are clear and known hazards in a work space or a public space, such as a grocery store, those who own the space are supposed to put up warning signs to protect anyone in the area. The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has established some guidelines for how these signs should appear, including intended colors for different types of signs.
